Chamber meeting
The Summersville Chamber of Commerce met in their regular scheduled meeting on Thursday June 10, 2010 at 5:30 at Summersville Senior Center. The meeting was called to order by President Jessi Berry at 5:37.
The Summersville Chamber of Commerce met on Thursday, May 13th in a regular session.
Pumpkin Fest will be held on Saturday, October 3 from 10 am until 3 pm. This year's events will be very similar to last year's. Read the fest insert to find times for each event. To enter in the pumpkin bake off, pumpkin carving/decorating, and scarecrow contests you will need to bring your creations to the entry booth at 10:00 am. The bake off will be judged at 10:30 am in order to judge any perishable items. Other entries will be judged throughout the day. New this year will be a side walk chalk contest which will be held at 1-2 pm around the bank parking lot. Contestants will need to draw a fall scene within the hour. You may enter as a team and will need to bring your own side-walk chalk; must be non-toxic and washable.
The tractor parade will be held at 1:00 pm with line-up at 12:30 in the parking lot next to Stop N' Spot. Tractors will be awarded in three categories: farthest traveled, oldest tractor, and most creative using the theme of the fest. Questions about the tractor parade may be directed to Jessi Berry. There will be several races going on throughout the day. The first one being the lawn mower race at 2 pm and then the golf cart race at 2:15 pm. Lawn mowers and golf cart engines do not have to be stock! New this year will be tricycle races; read the insert for further details. Questions about the races may be directed to Candace Lehman.
To enter in the Pumpkin Queen Contest you may pick up a form at the Community Bank in Summers- ville. There are four categories for ages 4 and under, 5-12, 13-18 and ages 55 plus. Contestants must check in at the gazebo at 12 noon and winners will be announced at 12:15. All winners will ride in the tractor parade. Businesses may participate in the window/building decorating contest again this year. Businesses will need to be decorated by the Thursday prior to the fest. Please contact Cathy Tuttle to enter and ensure that a picture will be taken to be voted on at the fest.
There are approximately 25 booths that have been reserved for the day. There is still booth space available. Cost for a 15' x 15' space is fifteen dollars for individuals selling items and ten dollars for non-profit organizations.
The concession stand will be open from 10 am to 2 pm. The stand will be ran by the chamber and senior citizens center. Items served from the stand will consist of burgers, hot dogs, chips, coffee, tea, lemonade, and bottled water.

In new business, it was decided that the Christmas Parade would be held on Friday, December 4. The theme will be “Hillbilly Christmas”.
There will be another meeting on October 1 to finalize any last minute details for the the Pumpkin Fest. With out any further business, Jessi Berry moved to adjourn; Rose Garman, second.
