Chamber meeting

The Summersville Chamber of Commerce met on Thursday, September 10 to finalize plans for Pumpkin Fest and decide the Christmas Parade theme.

  • Pumpkin Fest will be held on Saturday, October 3 from 10 am until 3 pm. This year's events will be very similar to last year's. Read the fest insert to find times for each event. To enter in the pumpkin bake off, pumpkin carving/decorating, and scarecrow contests you will need to bring your creations to the entry booth at 10:00 am. The bake off will be judged at 10:30 am in order to judge any perishable items. Other entries will be judged throughout the day. New this year will be a side walk chalk contest which will be held at 1-2 pm around the bank parking lot. Contestants will need to draw a fall scene within the hour. You may enter as a team and will need to bring your own side-walk chalk; must be non-toxic and washable.
  • In new business, it was decided that the Christmas Parade would be held on Friday, December 4. The theme will be “Hillbilly Christmas”.
  • There will be another meeting on October 1 to finalize any last minute details for the the Pumpkin Fest. With out any further business, Jessi Berry moved to adjourn; Rose Garman, second.

Our community of Summersville held it's annual Easter Egg Hunt a week ago and we got some pictures up to show the happenings, on the square in downtown Summersville, MO. We estimate over 100 young ones and their parents came by to find Easter eggs and gather together to share the festivities. Eggs were all filled with candy, prizes, and/or money. The event was put on by the Summersville Chamber of Commerce, a great time was had by all.
